About Dexter

Meet Dexter – your gentle, goofy shadow
Dexter is a 8-year-old (Ridgeback x Lab?) with the heart of a teddy bear and the soul of a professional nap enthusiast. This big, tan gentle giant with adorable white feet, floppy ears and a half-length tail has been in our care for around 6 months and is so ready to trade shelter life for a quiet couch and a loving human.
Dexter is playful but calm, friendly, gentle and a little bit goofy. He enjoys soft toys, but if we are being honest, he would choose cuddles, snoozing and human affection almost every single time. When he is excited, he does the sweetest little foot taps like the penguin from Happy Feet, which is impossible not to smile at.
On walks, Dexter is curious and loves to sniff everything the world has to offer. He is fairly independent and likes to go where he thinks the adventure is, so he would benefit from some relaxed leash training to polish those walking manners. He is toilet trained and settles beautifully in calm environments.
Dexter came from a loving home and is clearly used to being someone’s companion. He is loyal, affectionate and happiest when close to his people. A quiet, relaxed household would suit him perfectly, think slow mornings, gentle walks and plenty of downtime together.
Favourite things include:
BBQ chicken
Shmackos
Sleeping
Sniffing walks
Being near his humans
If you are looking for a gentle giant to keep you company, warm your feet and love you quietly but deeply, Dexter might just be your perfect match. He is ready for his forever home.
