Find your next companion

Meet Carport Gary 💙🐾

Some cats find their way into your life in unusual ways, and that's exactly how Gary got his name.

This handsome boy first appeared under a local Newman carport, quietly helping himself to the meals left out for him. As the weeks passed, it became clear that Gary was struggling. He was losing weight, but despite his circumstances, he remained incredibly friendly, affectionate and grateful for every bit of kindness shown to him.

When Gary disappeared for a few days, his new friends worried. Sadly, when he returned, he was limping badly and clearly in pain. A veterinary examination revealed a severely broken front leg that could not be repaired, and Gary underwent an amputation to give him the best chance at a comfortable, pain-free future.

The good news? Gary has handled everything life has thrown at him with remarkable resilience. He sailed through surgery like a champion and is already proving that three-legged cats can live happy, active and fulfilling lives.

Gary has also tested positive for FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus). Many FIV-positive cats live long, healthy lives with minimal impact from the condition. It simply means Gary will need an indoor lifestyle and a family committed to keeping an eye on his health as he gets older.

Currently recovering and receiving lots of love and attention, Gary's sweet nature shines through every day. He adores human company, enjoys affection and seems genuinely grateful to be safe and cared for.

As Gary continues his recovery, we will be looking for a loving indoor home where he can enjoy the comfort, security and companionship he has always deserved.

If you'd like to welcome this resilient boy into your family, submit an adoption application and we can arrange a meet and greet. Because Gary is being cared for outside of a shelter environment, we know his personality well and can help ensure he's a great match for your home.

Carport Gary's story may have started under a carport, but we think his best chapter is still to come. 💙🐈

Cebu - A Little Adventure Waiting

Named after the vibrant island of Cebu, this little pup brings just as much energy, warmth and personality.

Cebu is a happy, affectionate puppy who loves being around people. He enjoys playtime, exploring new things and learning about the world around him. Whether he is chasing toys, bouncing around with puppy enthusiasm or settling in for some affection, Cebu is always ready to brighten someone’s day.

Being raised in foster care with a loving family means we are learning all about Cebu’s personality and helping him build confidence as he grows. Puppies like Cebu thrive with consistency, training and lots of positive experiences.

Cebu is currently undergoing precautionary treatment for suspected Ehrlichia canis, a tick borne disease sometimes found in dogs from northern areas. He is doing well and not showing concerning symptoms, and treatment will be completed while he remains in care. We are happy to talk through this with anyone interested in adopting him.

Cebu would love a home that is ready for all the fun that comes with raising a puppy, along with the cuddles, laughter and companionship they bring.

Cebu is currently in foster care and can be met by sending in an adoption application. Once your application is received, we can arrange a meet and greet.

4 THINGS TO CONSIDER BEFORE APPLYING:

1. Time Commitment: Owning a dog is a big responsibility and requires a significant commitment of time and energy. Be sure to consider how much time you can realistically dedicate to caring for a dog and make sure you are prepared to make that commitment.

2. Cost: Owning a dog can be expensive. Make sure to consider the cost of food, medical care, toys, and other supplies. You may also want to think about enrolling your dog in obedience classes or hiring a professional dog walker.

3. Space: Depending on the breed, some dogs require a lot of space. Make sure you have enough room in your home and yard to accommodate a dog before making the decision to adopt.

4. Lifestyle: Think about your current lifestyle and how a dog may fit into it. Consider if you have any restrictions such as travel, work hours, or allergies. Also, think about how owning a dog may affect your social life.

NOTES:
Adoption fee includes vet check, first vaccination*, flea and worm treatment, microchipping and sterilisation at a SAFE approved vet at 6 months of age.

Meet Daisy, a Big-Hearted Girl Who Loves to Learn

At around two years old and weighing approximately 37 kg, Daisy is a mid-to-large girl with an affectionate nature, a playful streak and plenty of love to share. She can be wonderfully clingy with her favourite people and enjoys being involved in family life.

Daisy had a difficult beginning when she contracted parvovirus as a young puppy, but this tough girl pulled through and is now healthy and thriving. She is not a fussy eater, although lamb will always earn extra points!

With a medium energy level, Daisy enjoys her walks and is also happy burning off energy through a daily game of ball in the backyard. She loves to chew, so a good supply of tough, durable toys will help keep her busy and entertained.

Daisy currently lives successfully with a male and female dog. She is generally the follower of the group rather than the one in charge. This clever girl is both toilet trained and crate trained. She already knows sit, down, stay and come, and can even find familiar family members by name when asked. Daisy enjoys learning and would benefit from a family that will continue her training using calm, positive methods.

Daisy is attentive to what is happening around her home and will notice strangers approaching or passing the property. Her experience with cats and children is unknown, so thoughtful introductions and appropriate supervision would be important.

Daisy is living in foster care with a loving family, which helps us understand her personality, routines and needs. SAFE does not operate a shelter, but meeting Daisy is easy. Submit an adoption application and, if she may suit your household, we can arrange a meet and greet.

If you are looking for an affectionate, intelligent and playful companion who is ready to become part of your everyday life, Daisy would love to meet you.

Meet Dusty, Your Gentle Little Sidekick

Dusty is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves cuddles and being close to his people. Whether you are working around the house, taking out the bins or completing the smallest task, Dusty will happily come along and keep you company.

He has an inquisitive and playful nature, although he can be cautious when faced with something unfamiliar. Dusty likes to take his time, observe what is happening and build trust before deciding that everything is safe. With patience, reassurance and plenty of love, his confidence continues to grow.

Dusty loves travelling in the car and is fully toilet trained. He will even let you know if he needs to go outside during the night. He is now comfortable wearing his collar but is still learning about walking on a lead, so his new family will need to introduce walks gradually and positively.

Dusty is looking for a kind and patient family who will allow him to settle at his own pace. In return, they will gain a loving, loyal little buddy who simply wants to be included.

Because Dusty is living in foster care with a loving family, we have been able to learn about his personality, routines and needs. SAFE does not operate a shelter, but that will not stop you from meeting him. Submit an adoption application and, if he may be a good match for your household, we can arrange a meet and greet.

Meet Gizmo 💙🐾

At around 6 months old, Gizmo is the perfect mix of playful kitten energy and affectionate companionship.

Found wandering the streets, this handsome boy hasn’t let his difficult start change his sweet nature. He’s incredibly affectionate, loves being picked up, and has a loud purr that starts the moment he’s in your arms.

Gizmo is ready to leave street life behind and find a family where he’ll be cherished. If you’re looking for a loving, cuddly companion, Gizmo is waiting to meet you.

If you’re looking for a kitten who will curl up beside you, nuzzle into your warmth, and shower you with love, Gizmo is your perfect match.

Now Gizmo is in foster care with a loving family, he is learning all about home life, cosy naps, and the joy of toys that crinkle, roll, and bounce. He has a brave streak and enjoys exploring his surroundings, before returning for a cuddle or a well-earned rest.

Fostering means we are getting to know Gizmo’s personality and what helps him feel comfortable and confident. He would suit a home ready for typical kitten antics, playful moments, and gentle guidance as he continues to grow.

Gizmo is currently in foster care and can be met easily by sending through an adoption application. We can then arrange a meet and greet so you can see if he is the right match for your family.

SAFE is a foster based rescue and we do not have a shelter you can visit, but that does not stop you adopting a wonderful kitten like Gizmo and giving him a happy new beginning.

LOCATED IN PERTH

Slate and Sterling: Little Paws, New Beginnings

Meet Slate and Sterling, two lovely boys now located in Perth and ready to find homes of their own. Their photos may be a little underwhelming, but consider them a sneak peek until we get some better puppy portraits!

Both boys are in foster care with a loving family. They are still settling in, so we are getting to know their individual personalities and needs a little more each day.

Like all puppies, Slate and Sterling will need patience, gentle guidance and ongoing training as they learn about home life. Think toilet training, suitable chew toys and plenty of opportunities to explore the world safely.

Our foster families help us understand each puppy so we can support a suitable match. Slate and Sterling are available for adoption individually.

Interested in meeting one of these boys? Submit an adoption application and our team can arrange a meet and greet. SAFE does not have a shelter to visit, but meeting a puppy in foster care is easy to arrange.

*Puppies and dogs may require further vaccination(s) to complete the full vaccination course. This will be at the cost of the new owner and is not included in the adoption fee.

Meet Sapphire, Satin and Smoky ✨

Three little stars from our seven puppy “S” litter have made the trip from Newman to Perth, and they’re ready to start meeting their admirers!

Sapphire and Satin are confident girls who are keen to explore. Their brother Smoky is settling in too, and all three are at an age where new experiences, gentle introductions and plenty of play will help them grow. As they spend time with their loving foster families, we’ll get to know each puppy’s personality and needs.

Their siblings Sequins, Slate, Sparky and Sterling are still in Newman, but Sapphire, Satin and Smoky are now in foster care in Perth. SAFE is taking expressions of interest for the Perth trio. They’ll be ready for adoption once their vaccinations, microchips and general health checks have been completed.

If one of these little gems has caught your eye, send in an adoption application. We can then arrange a meet and greet with their foster family. SAFE is foster based, so there’s no shelter to visit, but meeting a puppy is easy to arrange.

Which little S will make you smile? 💙

Sequin and Sparky: Little Paws, Big Adventures Ahead

Meet Sequin and Sparky, two lovely puppies now located in Newman and ready to find homes of their own.

Both are in foster care with a loving family. They are still settling in, so we are getting to know their individual personalities and needs a little more each day.

Like all puppies, Sequin and Sparky will benefit from patience, gentle guidance and ongoing training. From toilet training to discovering which toys are for chewing, there is plenty to learn as they grow!

Being in foster care helps us understand each puppy’s personality and needs, so we can support a suitable match. Sequin and Sparky are available for adoption individually.

Interested in meeting one of them? Submit an adoption application and our team can arrange a meet and greet. SAFE does not have a shelter you can visit, but that does not stop you adopting or meeting our puppies in foster care.

Meet Turnip: The Coolest Veggie in the Patch!

Turnip may be named after a vegetable, but this handsome white boy is anything but ordinary!

Turnip settles into new surroundings quickly and has made himself right at home with his loving foster family. He has a lovely balance of playful energy and laid-back charm. He enjoys a walk, is doing really well on the lead and will happily sit when treats are involved. He is also learning to chase a ball, although he has not quite worked out what all the fuss is about yet!

When the adventures are over, Turnip is equally happy to relax and enjoy a lazy afternoon. He currently manages well at home while his foster carer is at work, and he absolutely loves travelling in the car, making him a willing companion for outings.

Turnip shared an enclosure with another dog at the pound and appeared comfortable in their company. With suitable introductions, he may enjoy living with a friendly canine companion. He also has the easygoing nature that may suit a home with children.

Because Turnip is living in foster care rather than a shelter, we are getting to know his personality, routines and needs in a real home environment. SAFE does not have a shelter you can visit, but that will not stop you from meeting him.

Simply send in an adoption application, and we can arrange a meet and greet with Turnip and his foster family. Come and see whether this very lovable Turnip belongs in your patch!
